Are you struggling today? Same pinch. Because I am in the same boat. I too struggle to write, daily every day. It’s a tiring and boring thing. The ability to do the same thing over and over without feeling bored is kind of difficult. But that is just part of the process.

If you ever want to “give up” don’t worry we all go through that part of the process. It doesn’t matter even if you are a successful person or not, it happens to all of us. To the experienced, to the noobies one is free from its grapple, some got infected due to jealousy, some due to impatience but we all got affected by it at some time in our life. But, don’t worry, because here we have 6 solutions to get you back into a better mood.

  Emotions Don’t Dictate Reality

In 1983, two band members of the band Metallica, Ulrich and Hetfield, decided to fire their third band member, Mustaine. The decision was swift and brutal: Mustaine was given a bus ticket back to California, his dreams of rock stardom seemingly shattered.

But he didn’t succumb to depression; he channeled his anger into hard work. Mustaine formed a new band, Megadeth, and in 1985, Megadeth released its debut album, “Killing Is My Business… and Business Is Good!” The album was a success, and they gained a massive following and respect in the metal community.

Even after this success, Mustaine was haunted by Metallica’s greater fame. Despite his achievements, he felt like a loser. Mustaine’s story underscores that success doesn’t always align with our emotions. He was successful in every sense, yet his emotions told him otherwise. Emotions don’t dictate reality; they are simply responses from our subconscious mind.

Valley of Disappointment

We often think that hard work will lead to immediate improvement, but reality is different. The learning curve is not linear; it is exponential. In the beginning, we struggle to find our way, then we learn to do things better, and finally, we master them. This journey involves many setbacks and experiments.

The path to success is often much longer and more arduous than it appears from the outside. Very few knew Messi before his debut. This is the difference between expectations and reality, which people seem to miss all the time.

“It took me 17 years and 114 days to become an overnight success.”

Lionel Messi

Support Can Help

A good support system or an accountability partner can work wonders both in consistency and commitment. Surrounding yourself with positive influences and people who believe in your goals can provide the encouragement and motivation you need to keep going.

Your tribe dictates a lot of habits about you knowingly or unknowingly. A good friend might help you in curbing your bad habits and problems in life and can make you move towards personal growth.

Moreover, we copy the habits of the people we live with. Live with a jerk, and in months you become one. Live with a topper, and in months you become one too. The fear of being left behind is a great motivator.

Adopting Grit Habits Can Help

Grit is a psychological trait that involves perseverance and passion for long-term goals. It encompasses the ability to maintain effort and interest over the years despite failures, setbacks, and plateaus in progress. Grit is about having the stamina to stick with your future, day in and day out, and not just for a week or month, but for years, and working hard to make that future a reality.

  1. Write

A scientific paper has shown that practicing any form of expressive writing, such as journaling, can help individuals in difficult times. It is an excellent coping mechanism to deal with stress. When you write about your thoughts and feelings, you gain clarity and a sense of control over your experiences. This process can lead to greater emotional resilience and a stronger ability to persist through challenges.

  1. Gratitude

Gratitude is the habit of writing thank-you notes to people or in a secret diary if you value your privacy. Scientific research has shown that those who practice gratitude have better life satisfaction and a more positive mood.

This positive mood is linked to greater resilience and perseverance. By focusing on what you are thankful for, you shift your mindset from what’s lacking to what’s abundant, providing the emotional strength to keep moving forward.

  1. Meditate

There are numerous scientific studies [1],[2] and [3] showing how effective meditation is in increasing an individual’s willpower. Meditation helps you develop a mindful awareness of your thoughts and emotions, enabling you to manage stress better and maintain focus on your long-term goals.

A Sign of a Healthy Living Being

Feeling sad, insecure, or depressed doesn’t mean that something is wrong in your life. Quite the opposite. Healthy living beings feel ups and downs, which is what makes them healthy.

The ability to feel a spectrum of emotions is part of being human. Doesn’t Ronaldo feel sad when he loses a match? Of course, he does. But it doesn’t change the fact that he is a great player, despite feeling like a loser at that time. To be happy, we need to adopt many beliefs, one such that is that feeling down is normal.

Emotions are not facts; they are just responses from our subconscious mind, nothing less, nothing more. You can acknowledge them, but remember, emotions change their tone very quickly. If today is burdensome because of the effort you’re putting into honing a craft, tomorrow when you win, these same emotions will switch sides like a cheerleader and make you feel like you have landed on the moon.

This Is the Filter of Greatness

Achieving greatness and mastery is like passing through a filter. In that filter, people go through hell, they feel delusional, unworthy, and depressed. Some have to fight their way through family and friends, and never get support. This is the filter of greatness, and it does only one thing: it doesn’t let you stay in the game and struggle.

Greatness often comes from enduring and persevering through challenges. It’s about staying committed to your goals, even when things get tough. The journey to success is rarely straightforward, but by developing habits of gratitude, writing, meditation, and maintaining a realistic perspective on your progress, you can build the grit needed to achieve your dreams.

If greatness were easy, everyone would achieve it. If greatness didn’t require hard work, successful people, and successful athletes wouldn’t need to hit the gym for 5 hours a day or read 80 books a year.

To Wrap It Up

When you feel like giving up, remember that persistence and the right habits can make all the difference. Embrace the journey, develop your grit, and keep moving forward. Success is a marathon, not a sprint, and every step you take brings you closer to your goals.
